NUS undergrad first in Singapore to get new defibrillator under breastbone

A 19-year-old National University of Singapore undergraduate who suffered a cardiac arrest at his camp's medical centre has become one of the first patients in Singapore to receive an extravascular implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (EV-ICD). The device, implanted under the breastbone at the National University Hospital, delivers shocks to restore normal heart rhythm.
