Malaysia leverages BRICS partner status to deepen trade with India
Malaysia is using its BRICS partner status to deepen trade and investment links with major emerging economies, with India as a flagship example. Bilateral investment reached US$5.6 billion in 2025, while 293 approved Indian manufacturing projects in Malaysia are worth US$2.95 billion as of June 2026. Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim is expected to deliver Malaysia's National Statement at the 18th BRICS Leaders' Summit.
