Data centre electricity use projected at 31 per cent by 2035

The Energy Commission projects data centres will account for 31 per cent of national electricity use by 2035, against 22 per cent for households and 25 per cent for commercial users. It says the rise will not affect supply to other consumers because generation capacity planning already accounts for the demand. As of July 2026, data centre usage stood at 57 per cent of the projected level.
