Hakam rejects Hadi's call to scrap colonial-era laws
PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang has urged that all colonial-era laws be repealed, saying they prevent Islam from prevailing over man-made law. Human rights group Hakam criticised the call, with its president M Ramachelvam arguing the Federal Constitution is not a colonial imposition but the product of the Reid Commission's negotiations, and that any change must be debated on legal merit.
