Water industry workers must hold WiSP safety passport from 2028

From 2028, all workers in the water supply and sewerage industry in Peninsular Malaysia and Labuan will be required to undergo safety training under the Water Industries Safety Passport (WiSP). The initiative, a collaboration between NIOSH and SPAN, was launched by Deputy Human Resources Minister Datuk Khairul Firdaus Akbar Khan at COSH 2026 in Kuala Lumpur. The one-day training covers five topics and costs RM194.40 per person, with the WiSP card valid for two years as a prerequisite for entering work sites.
