MRCA seeks 2027 Budget relief for local retailers against foreign e-commerce
The Malaysia Retail Chain Association is asking for the 2027 Budget to close what it calls an uneven playing field between local retailers and foreign e-commerce platforms. Its proposals include stricter enforcement of the low-value goods sales tax, an exemption from the 6% service tax on utility supplies paid through mall management, and a phased return of the GST. The budget is due to be tabled by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim on Oct 9.
