Rare bowmouth guitarfish recorded in Singapore waters after nearly 30 years

A rare bowmouth guitarfish was officially recorded in Singapore waters for the first time in almost 30 years, after fishermen filmed one near Pidok jetty on 29 October 2022. The Lee Kong Chian Natural History Museum published a report on the sighting, and researchers warn that if the species dies out, an 88-million-year evolutionary lineage would be lost.
