A slope erosion on the North-South Expressway southbound near KM263.6, close to the Menora Tunnel and the Meru-Ipoh Utara stretch, was covered with waterproof sheeting and the route reopened within 24 hours. Perak exco Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin said PLUS and the Malaysian Highway Authority are monitoring the site and drafting long-term measures including slope reinforcement, steel netting, satellite monitoring and CCTV. Heavy rain of 65mm, above the usual 40mm, was blamed for the erosion.

Jalan Syed Putra-Jalan Istana junction to close in stages from Sept 14 for NPE 2 works
