Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor reminded motoring enthusiasts that public roads must not be treated as racing circuits, urging discipline and respect for other road users. Foreigner fined RM20,000 for keeping 578kg cooking oil, 250 litres petrol without permit
A 34-year-old foreign national was fined RM20,000, or 12 months' jail in default, by the Sessions Court in Tawau on Friday for possessing controlled goods without a permit. Azmain Same pleaded guilty to holding 578kg of cooking oil and 250 litres of petrol on an unregistered wooden boat in waters off Kalapuan on Sept 6, which he admitted he meant to take to a neighbouring country. He was arrested by a Kunak General Operations Force team and charged under the Control of Supplies Act 1961.

A 40-year-old woman was sentenced to 15 months in jail by the Magistrate's Court in Kota Kinabalu after pleading guilty to giving false information as guarantor for a child's MyKad application. The court heard she used her own biological child's birth certificate for another child at the Tawau NRD in 2023, and had sold that birth certificate to another person.
