DAP urges AGC to brief family of teen killed in Bandar Utama school stabbing
DAP is pressing the Attorney General's Chambers to hold an official briefing for the family of a 16-year-old killed in a stabbing at a school in Bandar Utama. The call follows Monday's acquittal of a 15-year-old boy accused of the killing, after the Shah Alam High Court found he was of unsound mind at the time. DAP Women's chief Teo Nie Ching said the family deserves a full explanation of the ruling and whether the prosecution will appeal.

Mother of stabbed student urges AGC to appeal teen's acquittal
The mother of Yap Shing Xuen, a student killed in a stabbing at a national secondary school in Bandar Utama, is urging the Attorney General's Chambers to appeal the High Court's acquittal of a 15-year-old boy. Wong Lee Ping wants the appeal filed to the Court of Appeal within 14 days. The Shah Alam High Court freed the teen on a defence of unsound mind and ordered him treated at Hospital Bahagia Ulu Kinta, Perak.

Lorry driver fails in High Court bid for RM19,604 termination benefits
The High Court in Shah Alam dismissed a lorry driver's appeal against the Director-General of Manpower's decision rejecting his claim for RM19,604 in salary in lieu of notice and termination benefits. The court found R. A. Murugan, 55, had breached his employment contract by staying away from work for more than two consecutive working days after May 13, 2024.

Mother of stabbed student vows to keep seeking justice after accused acquitted
The mother of a female student killed in a stabbing at SMK Bandar Utama Damansara 4 in Petaling Jaya last October said she will keep seeking justice after the male student accused of murdering her daughter was acquitted by the High Court. Bandar Utama school stabbing: 15-year-old boy freed after mental disorder defence
A 15-year-old boy accused of fatally stabbing a 16-year-old schoolgirl in Bandar Utama last year has been acquitted of murder by the Shah Alam High Court on grounds of mental disorder. The court accepted the defence under Section 84 of the Penal Code that he was temporarily insane at the time. He will receive medication and counselling at a mental hospital until medical officers assess him fit to rejoin society.

The High Court in Shah Alam acquitted a 15-year-old boy of murdering his 16-year-old schoolmate at a secondary school in Bandar Utama last year, ruling he was of unsound mind at the time. Judge Adlin Abdul Majid ordered him detained and treated at Hospital Bahagia Ulu Kinta in Perak at the pleasure of the Sultan of Selangor. His lawyer said the defence proved insanity under Section 84 of the Penal Code and the prosecution failed to rebut it.

Traditional healer acquitted of killing patient during ritual
The High Court in Shah Alam acquitted Che Hong Chiew, 55, of murdering Lim Sin Hue, 41, who sought ritual treatment in 2022. The judge found she was of unsound mind due to schizophrenia at the time and ordered her detained at Hospital Bahagia Ulu Kinta. The prosecution has appealed.

Preacher charged with keeping nude photos, porn videos on two phones
An independent preacher pleaded not guilty at the Shah Alam Magistrate's Court to two charges of possessing nude photographs and pornographic videos on two mobile phones. The alleged offence took place at the Shah Alam district police headquarters' Criminal Investigation Department on July 1 last year. Bail was set at RM5,000 with one surety and the case will be mentioned again on Oct 27.

Man fined RM2,000 for stealing 65 items from Subang Jaya supermarket
A 39-year-old man was fined RM2,000 by the Shah Alam Magistrate's Court after pleading guilty to stealing 65 items worth RM730.97 from a supermarket in Subang Jaya on 20 December last year. Mohd Aslizan Mustafa Maarof was also ordered to serve 10 days in jail if he fails to pay the fine.

Three more charged with murder of 23-year-old at illegal gathering in Taman Alam Megah
Three more alleged gang members were charged in the Magistrate's Court in Shah Alam today with murdering a 23-year-old man during an illegal gathering last month. The charges bring the total number of people charged in the case to 11, after eight men were charged with the same offence last week. The offence was allegedly committed at 1.59pm on Aug 25 at Jalan Mandolin 33/5 in Taman Alam Megah, and the court fixed Nov 24 for mention.

Property entrepreneur wins Facebook defamation suit at Shah Alam High Court
The Shah Alam High Court ruled that property entrepreneur Datuk Mohamad Azlan Abdullah @ Ali succeeded in his defamation suit against Shahruldi Mahafiz Ramli over two Facebook posts. The court ordered the defendant to pay RM30,000 in costs, with damages to be assessed in separate proceedings.

Former general manager remanded two days over abuse of position in property firm
A former general manager of a property investment holding company has been remanded for two days by the MACC over allegations of abusing his position to approve promotions, salary adjustments and bonuses without following standard operating procedures. The remand order was issued by Magistrate Wan Noora Nisa Ngadirin in Shah Alam today. The suspect was detained while giving a statement at the Selangor MACC office.
