A lorry driver in Miri has apologised after a viral video showed his dog being dragged while tied to the back of his lorry. He claimed he forgot the dog was still tied up after the rain stopped, and said the animal has been treated and is reported safe. Miri district police confirmed receiving a report on the incident.

Three men arrested in Miri over entertainment outlet brawl
Police in Miri arrested three local men aged 29, 32 and 33 believed to have been involved in a fight at an entertainment outlet in Marina Phase 2. The case came to light after police found a three-minute video on Facebook, and the suspects have been remanded for two days under Section 147 of the Penal Code.

Police issue two summonses to Hilux driver filmed driving against traffic in Miri
Police in Miri tracked down and issued two summonses to a Toyota Hilux driver after dashcam footage of the vehicle being driven against traffic along Jalan Taman Tunku went viral. The driver was located on Monday afternoon and admitted driving against the flow to avoid waiting. He was issued two PDRM Form K257 summonses under Rule 13 of the Road Traffic Rules 166/59.

Two held over aluminium ladder theft in Miri
Police arrested two local men, aged 45 and 42, after CCTV footage showed the alleged theft of an aluminium ladder outside a house in Miri. The incident happened around 3pm on Sept 11, and the suspects were picked up in Pujut 9 and Desa Pujut Permy. The case is being investigated under Section 379 of the Penal Code for theft.

Fire crew frees locked car at Kampung Tudan Fasa 6 home
A Fire and Rescue team from the Lutong station helped open a car locked from the inside at a house on Jalan Harmoni, Kampung Tudan Fasa 6, Miri. The emergency call came in at 12.52pm and the operation was completed shortly after.

More than 300 bid farewell as FDS crash victim Alexson Adit laid to rest in Lambir
Alexson Adit Henry, a 31-year-old Flying Doctor Service assistant medical officer, was buried at the Anglican Cemetery in Lambir, Miri, on Sept 14 after a funeral service at Good Shepherd Church in Lutong. He was one of five people killed when an FDS helicopter crashed near the Long Lellang STOLport in Ulu Baram on Sept 8.

FDS nurse Jessie Paya Jok laid to rest at Lambir cemetery in Miri
Jessie Paya Jok, 44, a nurse with the Flying Doctor Service (FDS) killed in a helicopter crash at Long Lellang, Baram, was buried at the Borneo Evangelical Mission (BEM) cemetery in Lambir, Miri this afternoon. She was among five victims of the 8 September crash, which also killed a pilot, a medical officer and a medical assistant. The Air Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) is still investigating the cause.

Long Lellang crash victims' remains released from Miri Hospital for burial
The remains of Captain Zainol Afiq Bee Sham and Dr Ainul Baraah Kamaruddin, two of five victims of the Long Lellang helicopter crash, were released from Miri Hospital mortuary on Sunday morning. After funeral prayers at Jamal Addin Mosque in Taman Jelita, Miri, the bodies were taken to Miri Airport to be flown to Kota Bharu and Kuala Lumpur. Remains of three other victims are also being released, with burials expected in Lambir on Monday.
