Lorry driver trapped after two-lorry crash on Loyang Avenue
A 58-year-old lorry driver was trapped in his seat after two lorries collided on Loyang Avenue towards Tampines Avenue 9 at about 10.55am on Sept 16. SCDF freed him with hydraulic rescue equipment and he and his 46-year-old passenger were taken conscious to Changi General Hospital. Fourteen bus services were delayed by up to 20 minutes, and police investigations are ongoing.

Man to be charged with vandalism for throwing rock at Police Cantonment Complex door
A 44-year-old man was arrested after allegedly throwing a rock at the glass door of the Police Cantonment Complex in Singapore on Sept 15. The door shattered and the man, believed to be intoxicated, will be charged with vandalism on Sept 17.

Sengkang woman fails in appeal against 18-year sentence for killing adoptive father
The Court of Appeal in Singapore dismissed Tan Qiu Yan's appeal against her 18-year jail term for culpable homicide in the killing of her adoptive father at their Sengkang flat. The court found her motive was a belief that her father was depriving her of the flat her late mother had promised her.

Man jailed 27 months after cannabis parcel intercepted at SingPost Centre
A 28-year-old Singapore permanent resident was sentenced to two years and three months' jail after a parcel containing about 136g of cannabis was intercepted at the SingPost Centre in Eunos Road in September 2025. Anton Andrievsky had ordered the drug from overseas via Telegram and had it sent to his Toa Payoh flat using the previous owner's details. He pleaded guilty to one count of attempted drug possession.

4,500 cartons of duty-unpaid cigarettes seized at Tuas; Malaysian driver held
Singapore's Immigration and Checkpoints Authority stopped a Malaysia-registered trailer at Tuas Checkpoint on Sept 4 and found 4,500 cartons of duty-unpaid cigarettes hidden under a load of concrete piles. The 26-year-old Malaysian driver was arrested and handed to Singapore Customs with the seized cigarettes.

Air-con compressor dangles from Tampines HDB block, removed in under three hours
An air-conditioner compressor was left hanging from a fifth-floor HDB flat in Tampines on Sunday afternoon after its bracket partially came loose, held only by pipes and cables. A town council worker and police cordoned off the area below, and the bracket and compressor were removed within about three hours. Flat owners can be fined up to S$20,000 under Building Control Regulations if such units fall due to poor maintenance.

150 Indonesians deported from Pasir Gudang over immigration offences
A total of 150 Indonesians were sent home through the Pasir Gudang International Ferry Terminal yesterday, most for immigration offences such as overstaying and working without a valid permit. The deportation was carried out with cooperation between the Malaysian Immigration Department and Indonesian authorities, and the Johor Bahru Indonesian Consulate has helped repatriate 4,166 Indonesians since January 2026.

Man caught on CCTV wrecking Orchard Central store, damage estimated at S$1,000
A man was caught on CCTV trashing the Henri Charpentier store at Orchard Central at about 4am on Sep. 13, throwing furniture and shouting while apparently intoxicated. The store's operator is seeking about S$1,000 in compensation and has lodged a police report; investigations are ongoing.

Tiong Bahru man, 59, gets one-year treatment order for firing metal balls at crows
A 59-year-old man in Tiong Bahru built a makeshift crossbow-like device and fired metal ball bearings at crows between April and July 2025, damaging windows in the block opposite his flat. Seah Yam Seng pleaded guilty to endangering passersby and was sentenced on Sep. 15 to a one-year mandatory treatment order, with other charges taken into consideration.

Tower Transit seeks four commuters who helped unresponsive bus driver in Hougang
A Tower Transit bus driver became unresponsive behind the wheel while approaching a bus stop in Hougang Avenue 3 on Sept 14. Four commuters and an SBS Transit driver helped stop the double-decker bus and call for an ambulance; the driver is in stable condition at Tan Tock Seng Hospital. Tower Transit is now trying to find the helpers to thank them.

Singapore will hold 15 auctions through May 2027 to dispose of luxury goods seized in its S$3 billion money laundering case, the largest in the city-state's history. The items, including 250 Hermès handbags, jewellery and watches, are on display at a storage facility near Changi Airport. The first two auctions run until end-September and could raise up to S$3.9 million for the treasury.

Uzbek mother and son arrested over S$5,000 thefts at Changi Airport shops

Anwar: Malaysia will not be transit point for Israel-bound military cargo
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said Malaysia will not allow the country to be used as a transit point for shipments supporting Israel's military operations, and any suspicious cargo will be inspected and investigated. His statement follows the seizure of three Israel-bound containers at the Port of Tanjung Pelepas in Johor on Aug 19, and an earlier detention of a container from the Philippines on Aug 7. Indonesian man jailed a month for dropping cigarette butt in Stulang
An Indonesian general worker became the first person in Malaysia jailed for littering a cigarette butt under the Solid Waste and Public Cleansing Management Act 2007. Johor SWCorp opens four probe papers into Singapore construction waste dumping
Johor SWCorp is preparing four investigation papers over the alleged dumping of construction waste from Singapore at several sites in Pontian last month. Its director Zainal Fitri Ahmad said the probe involves four landowners and will take about three months before being referred to the deputy public prosecutor. The debris, including at Kampung Sungai Karang, was found dumped last month.

Woodlands residents douse corridor fire with hose and pails before SCDF arrives
A shoe rack in the eighth-floor common corridor of an HDB block in Admiralty Grove, Woodlands, caught fire on Sept 14. Neighbours used a home fire extinguisher, the communal hose and water pails to put out the flames before firefighters arrived, and no injuries were reported. The cause is under investigation.

Suspect in robbery and assault of two Rohingya in Taman Perling to be charged Thursday
A 25-year-old local man will be charged at the Johor Bahru Sessions and Magistrates' Courts on Thursday over the robbery and assault of two Rohingya men in Taman Perling. He faces three robbery charges under Section 392 of the Penal Code and one charge of causing hurt under Section 323. Police seized a grass-cutting machine, a parang and a UNHCR card.

ICA officers found two Pomeranian puppies hidden in a friend's vehicle at Woodlands Checkpoint. The wife received 19 weeks and 3 days' jail plus a $5,000 fine, and her husband the same sentence.

Three containers bound for Israel seized at Tanjung Pelepas port
Malaysian authorities held three containers at Tanjung Pelepas port in mid-August that were destined for Israel's Ashdod port. A separate container from the Philippines, bound for Israeli security firm Elbit Systems, was seized on August 7. Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said Malaysia will not be a transit point for trade that supports Israel.
