1. 77 students take White Coat pledge at Duke-NUS Medical School

   At Duke-NUS Medical School in Singapore, 77 students took the medical pledge at the White Coat Ceremony on August 14. This year saw more women enrol, with 38 of the 49 female students having switched to medicine from other fields. Among them is Aparna Giri Shankar, who came from public health.

2. Singapore student teams pitch special-needs tech projects for SUTD fund

   Ten teams pitched their projects on Tuesday (Sept 1) for the Create4Good innovation fund run by the Singapore University of Technology and Design. The ideas include transport training for people with special needs, a coding tool and a memory puzzle; winning teams can receive up to $50,000 each.

3. NUS student wins Prime Minister's Book Award for bilingual effort

   A National University of Singapore (NUS) student received the Prime Minister's Book Award at the NUS University Cultural Centre on 31 August. She was the only Malay/Muslim pre-university recipient at the Ministry of Education Special Awards ceremony, where 211 awards were given out. She hopes her experience will encourage other Malay students to value language and culture.
