2,373 students join Young Curators museum programme at 32 museums
A total of 2,373 students took part in the 'Bermalam di Muzium' 2026 programme, themed 'Young Curators', held at 32 museums nationwide from Sept 15 to 16. The closing ceremony was held at Dataran Muzium Negara in Kuala Lumpur, where National Unity Ministry deputy secretary-general Mohamad Sobri Mat Daud said the initiative helps students experience history beyond the classroom.

FOS'26 at PSAS brings STEM, TVET closer to the public
The STEM Festival 2026 (FOS'26) closed at Politeknik Sultan Azlan Shah in Behrang with over 400 participants taking part in activities to spark interest in STEM. Perak education exco Datuk Khairuddin Abu Hanifah said the programme is key to producing highly skilled human capital, and TVET should not be seen as a last resort. Polytechnic and Community College Education director Dr Shamsuri Abdullah said 32,000 applications were received for the 2026/2027 session against 24,000 places offered.

UM to launch 121st anniversary celebration on Sept 19
Universiti Malaya will launch its 121st anniversary celebration (UM121) on 19 September 2026 at its campus. The launch will be officiated by Sultan of Perak Sultan Nazrin Shah, who is also UM Chancellor, and features the first Royal Brisk Walk with over 2,000 UM members. A series of UM121 programmes runs until December 2026.

Sunway Students and Seniors Mark Merdeka Together
Students from Sunway International Schools spent an afternoon with residents of Sunway Sanctuary at the school's Kuala Lumpur campus for a Merdeka-themed gathering. The session paired students with senior residents for activities and conversations aimed at bridging generations. Principal Richard Cherry said such interactions give students values and human connections beyond the classroom.

UPSI expands Kadazandusun, Iban and Semai as degree majors
Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) in Tanjong Malim, Perak, became the first Malaysian higher education institution to offer tertiary programmes in Kadazandusun and Iban in 2010, and in 2024 expanded these plus Semai into majors under its Bachelor of Education. Lecturers Julita Norjietta Taisin and Saripah Anak Banseng say a shortage of trained teachers and dwindling daily use threaten the languages, and that more learning materials and digital content are needed.

UKM and UiTM prepare to welcome new students
Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) and Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Shah Alam Campus are making preparations for their new student orientation weeks. At UKM, the Minggu Tekad Siswa involves 44 facilitators, while UiTM is running a five-day course for its MDS assistants before Minggu Destini Siswa is held both online and physically.

Lovely Sabana registers as UPSI student
Lovely Sabana Augustine, 20, from Tumpat, Kelantan, has registered as a Bachelor of Education student at Sultan Idris Education University (UPSI) in Tanjong Malim, Perak. She scored a perfect 4.00 CGPA in STPM and received financial assistance after her story went viral in August. She aims to become an educator and improve her family's livelihood.

UPSI helps new student stranded in Batang Kali
A new UPSI student was stranded in Batang Kali, Selangor after her family's vehicle broke down on the way to Tanjung Malim for registration. UPSI sent a team to help, repaired the vehicle, provided accommodation and dinner, and gave RM2,232.35 in semester aid plus RM500 in alms.

UMNO's United Kingdom overseas club has proposed a Global TVET Talent Network to connect Malaysian talent abroad with MARA, government-linked companies and strategic industries. The proposal was raised during the debate on the UMNO president's policy speech at the 2026 UMNO General Assembly at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur. It also touched on social media mastery and the welfare of Malaysians overseas.

UPM farm boy leads team to Formula SAE Japan 2026
Aliman Zafran Yuslaimi, 23, from Subang, Selangor, started by repairing an old motorcycle engine at his family's oil palm estate in Kampung Serigala, Hulu Bernam. He now captains the Putra Motorsport Team from Universiti Putra Malaysia, which competed at Formula SAE Japan 2026 in Aichi, Japan, last August.
