Merdeka Football Exhibition at JMM Gallery 1 until Dec 31
Jabatan Muzium Malaysia and FAM are holding the Merdeka Football Exhibition: An Inspiration at JMM Gallery 1, Kuala Lumpur, from Aug 31 to Dec 31. The exhibition marks the 69th National Day and displays 140 items of national football history, including FA Cup trophies and memorabilia of the late Mokhtar Dahari. It targets 30,000 visitors.

Singer Atilia Haron will hold a solo concert at Robert's Theatre, The Campus Ampang, this Saturday to celebrate her birthday. The concert features Indonesia's SORE Ze Band, percussionist Steve Thornton and music director Fly Halizor, with tickets priced from RM168 to RM248.

Elepfilm hopes Konspirasi gets a cinema re-release
Elepfilm Entertainment hopes its film Konspirasi can return to cinemas after its run was halted on 28 May. Executive producer Jack Yeoh said a target date exists but official support from FINAS is still pending, and the company also plans to take the film to Taiwan and South Korea.

Indonesian pop rock band D'Masiv will hold the final concert of its 'Asia Home Run' tour at Mega Star Arena, Kuala Lumpur on 20 November. Tickets are priced between RM108 and RM588, with pre-sales open since 8 September.

NST columnist Datuk Abdul Rahim Mydin dies at 75
Datuk Abdul Rahim Mydin, a veteran New Straits Times columnist, died at 75 in Kuala Lumpur after a long battle with lung fibrosis. He was undergoing treatment at the Institute of Respiratory Medicine when he died around 4pm. He was formerly general manager of Petronas' Group Communications Department and was conferred the Datuk title in 2024.

Selangor Sultan launches book by ex-prisoner who earned PhD
Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah of Selangor launched the book 'PhD Dari Penjara' at Pustaka Raja Tun Uda in Kuala Lumpur on 10 September. It tells the story of Dr Malik Yatam, 39, who earned a business administration PhD from Open University Malaysia in May 2025 while serving a life sentence at Kajang Prison. He also received a Malaysia Book of Records recognition as the first Malaysian prisoner to earn a PhD behind bars.

Spideraya concert moved to Idea Live Arena Petaling Jaya over haze
The organiser of Konsert Spideraya has moved the Spider concert from Stadium Hoki Bukit Jalil to Idea Live Arena in Petaling Jaya. B7 Resources Sdn Bhd said the change was made because of air pollution, unstable weather and the current haze, but the date and time remain unchanged. Tickets already bought are still valid.

Awie concert organiser apologises over seating and goodie bag issues
The organiser of the Awie Rock King - Last Man Standing concert, Bombbay Legend Worldwide, apologised for seating confusion affecting CAT 5, CAT 9 and CAT 10 ticket holders at Stadium Merdeka, Kuala Lumpur, last Saturday. The organiser also apologised to CAT 9 and CAT 10 ticket holders who did not receive their goodie bags, and will contact them by e-mail to arrange delivery.

Cik B, daughter of entrepreneur Datuk Seri Vida, visited the paediatric ward at the Rehabilitation Hospital in Cheras to meet a young patient known as Cik Pia. The visit came after Cik Pia expressed her wish to meet on Threads, and Cik B also brought gifts and spent time with other patients and nurses.

The Labs at BBCC launches Malaysian artist series for Merdeka and Malaysia Day
The Labs at Bukit Bintang City Centre, Kuala Lumpur has launched an artist series featuring six Malaysian creative talents for the Merdeka and Malaysia Day season. Running from Sept 12, 2026 to January 2027, the programme includes physical installations, immersive digital experiences, murals and merchandise.

The plan was postponed because viewers and sponsors still want her, and she is needed to mentor new hosts. Zizan Razak proud to back Terbang film on Karamjit Singh
Zizan Razak admitted he was disappointed his role in the film Terbang was only a mechanic rather than a lead racer. After reading the script, he realised the Chiu Keng Guan film tells the story of national rally legend Karamjit Singh, and he accepted it as an honour. The film was launched at a gala night at TGV KLCC, Kuala Lumpur.
