    Juliana Jusit is preparing a memoir of her late father, Jusit Rantai, who raised the Malaysian flag at the declaration of Malaysia at Padang Bandaran, Jesselton on 16 September 1963. The memoir draws on Jusit's own handwritten notes, including his childhood with Agnes Newton Keith's family in Sandakan and his Iban heritage. Juliana drove from Sook, Keningau to Sarawak to trace his story, and a public university has been approached to publish it.

    Sabah's state-level Malaysia Day celebration will be held at the Sabah International Convention Centre in Kota Kinabalu on Sept 16, moved from Padang Merdeka because of weather and crowd control. About 300 higher education students will perform, and at least 3,000 people are expected. Minister Jafry Ariffin also repeated Sabah's demand for one-third parliamentary representation under MA63.

    The 2026 Sabah-level Malaysia Day celebration will include a Malaysia Day exhibition at Palm Square, Centre Point from Sept 9 to 11, ahead of the main event on Sept 16 at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) in Kota Kinabalu. Assistant Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Dr Andi Md Shamsureezal Mohd Sainal said the celebration aims to help youths appreciate Malaysia's formation and Sabah's role, with 300 students from six higher education institutions invited.

    The Malaysia Day 2026 celebration will be held at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching in Sarawak on Sept 16, the Communications Ministry said. The programme includes a multi-faith thanksgiving on Sept 14, a Muslim thanksgiving at the State Mosque on Sept 15, and a main event featuring a pulut kuning cutting and the signing of the Malaysia Proclamation Book by the Prime Minister, Sarawak Premier and Sabah Chief Minister.
