Eight teams compete in kolek boat race on Sungai Kelantan
Eight teams took part in a traditional kolek boat race on the banks of Sungai Kelantan at Laman Warisan Kampung Laut, Tumpat, in conjunction with Malaysia Day. The event involved 64 participants from surrounding village communities, including islands along the river. Organised by the Tumpat District Council with Tourism Kelantan, the race saw several boats capsize amid cheers from spectators.

5,000 join Klate Mega Fun Run in Kota Baru on Malaysia Day
More than 5,000 people took part in the 4.2km Klate Mega Fun Run at Lembah Sireh in Kota Baru on Malaysia Day. The state government-organised event, held for the first time, offered prizes including a Proton Saga and an e-bike, and participants called for it to become an annual fixture.

McDonald's Malaysia held its Piknik Famili Terbesar @ Mekdi at two East Coast locations, Pengkalan Chepa in Kelantan and Pantai Batu Buruk in Terengganu, on 5 September. The event offered free meals, traditional games, a children's fashion show and the Mekdi mascot, and introduced the new Ayam Goreng McD Rasa Ori menu.

Pohon pitis declared Kelantan state heritage at Istana Balai Besar
Pohon pitis was officially declared a Kelantan heritage item in a ceremony at Istana Balai Besar, Kota Bharu. The Tengku Mahkota of Kelantan, Tengku Muhammad Fakhry Petra, made the declaration and also launched the 2026 Kelantan Heritage Weapons Festival.

Sejiwa Social Club opens in Cyberjaya with pickleball, padel and dining
Sejiwa Social Club launched in Cyberjaya on 30 August 2026, occupying about 30,000 sq ft inside the 28-acre Royal Selangor Polo & Equestrian Club. The venue combines pickleball, padel, polo, equestrian activities, dining and entertainment, with courts named after Selangor's nine districts. The launch event featured celebrity court sessions, exhibition matches and a Merdeka countdown with fireworks.
