Sarawak special grant raised to RM1.5 billion a year from 2026

The Hari Malaysia Special Book is back in Sarawak for this year's celebration, with a signing ceremony at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) tonight. Sarawak targets full ePASS rollout to replace paper timber transfer passes by June 2027
Sarawak aims to fully enforce the Electronic Transfer Pass (ePASS) statewide by June 2027, replacing paper-based timber transfer passes with a traceable digital format. The system, developed under the Sarawak Timber and Forest Revenue Tracking System (REVLOG), was launched at the Sheraton Hotel in Kuching and will roll out in three phases starting January 2027 in Kapit, Sibu and Sarikei.

Abang Johari: Trust key to Sarawak's progress, RM685m given via UNIFOR
Sarawak Premier Abang Johari Tun Openg said trust among Sarawak's people is as important as physical infrastructure for the state's development. Tun Jugah's son recalls Sarawak's path into Malaysia in 1963
Tan Sri Leonard Linggi Tun Jugah, 86, recalls listening to the Malaysia proclamation on radio in Nanga Gaat, Kapit, while his father Tun Jugah Barieng witnessed it at the Central Padang in Kuching on Sept 16, 1963. He describes how his father rallied 51 Iban headmen in Kapit in 1962 to back the formation of Malaysia ahead of the Cobbold Commission.
