Bintulu Port officially under Sarawak government from 1 September
Bintulu Port has officially transferred to the Sarawak state government effective 1 September 2026 after the takeover from the federal government was completed. The handover of documents was witnessed by the Sarawak Premier and the Prime Minister at Kuching International Airport. The takeover involved RM1.8 billion in compensation and the dissolution of the Bintulu Port Authority.

Siburan district proposal revived, RM5mil for multipurpose hall
A proposal to elevate Siburan in Sarawak to a full district has been revived, more than 10 years after it was first raised, citing its strategic location and growing population and economy. Deputy Transport Minister Datuk Dr Jerip Susil said the Siburan area, including Tapah and Beratok, could become a satellite town for Kuching and Serian. He also said the Siburan Multipurpose Hall has received RM5 million from the Sarawak government for renovation, an occupancy permit and extra parking.

Tanker driver injured, trapped in crash at Bulatan ILP Samarahan
A 36-year-old tanker driver injured his right leg after being trapped in a crash with a cargo lorry at the Bulatan ILP Samarahan Expressway junction in Kota Samarahan early this morning. Kota Samarahan fire and rescue personnel used a Rescue Tool Kit to free him before he was taken to IJN Kota Samarahan in an EMRS vehicle.
