Sarawak haze eases but Serian, Lubok Antu, Samarahan, Tebedu still unhealthy
Air quality in Sarawak improved on Sept 15, with most monitoring stations recording Moderate API readings, but four locations remained unhealthy: Serian (168), Lubok Antu (152), Samarahan (151) and Tebedu (122). Kuching returned to Moderate at 96. The Asean Specialised Meteorological Centre warned that hotspots and smoke haze in Kalimantan and Sumatra continue to pose a transboundary haze risk.

KLFF and Luna Lights Wonderland in Kuching reopen as haze eases
The Kuching Lights & Floral Festival (KLFF) and Luna Lights Wonderland reopen to the public in Kuching today. Kuching North City Hall (DBKU) said the reopening follows an improvement in the haze in the city compared with two weeks ago. Visitors are advised to wear face masks, carry enough drinking water and check air quality readings before going.

Cloud seeding only short-term relief for Sarawak haze, says researcher
A researcher at Danau Girang Field Centre says cloud seeding can only give short-term relief from Sarawak's worsening haze and cannot fix the root causes of recurring fires. She points to peatland drainage, weak fire prevention and land management as the deeper problems, while Sarawak seeks more cloud seeding to refill dams ahead of hotter weather in October.

Sarawak seeks frequent cloud seeding as hotter October looms
Sarawak has asked the National Disaster Management Agency to carry out cloud seeding as soon and as often as conditions allow, to replenish water levels at its dams before hotter weather expected in October. Deputy Premier Douglas Uggah Embas said the state had discussed the matter with Nadma after limited success from earlier operations, and that he had not yet received the latest readings for the Batang Ai, Bakun and Murum dams.
