Ahmad Zahid visits Jakarta from Thursday, halal and disaster cooperation in focus
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi will make a four-day visit to Jakarta starting Thursday at the invitation of Indonesia's halal product body for the 5th H20 Halal Summit. The visit will focus on halal cooperation, disaster management, border and maritime issues and trade, and is expected to include a meeting with Indonesian Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka.

He pointed to existing mechanisms such as the ASEAN Power Grid and the ASEAN Plus Three Emergency Rice Reserve, and said the test of ASEAN's centrality will be what its institutions achieve as it nears its 60th anniversary in 2027.

ASEAN risks losing relevance as smaller groupings grow, Kao warns
