Upgrade of Rumah Panjang John Chendang ruai in Sri Aman completed
The RM200,000 upgrade of the ruai at Rumah Panjang John Chendang in Sengkuang Ili, Undop, Sri Aman, funded under the 2023 Rural Transformation Project allocation, has been completed. Sri Aman MP Doris Sophia Brodie officiated at the handover yesterday and urged residents to stay united and support GPS.

The Sarawak State Education Department has extended the temporary closure of schools in Serian and Lubok Antu until the Air Pollutant Index (API) reading in both districts falls below 200. Meanwhile, 12 other districts in Sarawak will operate as usual starting next Monday. Face masks will be distributed to affected students and school staff due to the haze.

Daughter returns to Kuching for Sarawak liberation anniversary, father's wartime diary remembered
Anne Read, 73, returned to Kuching for the 81st anniversary of Sarawak's liberation from Japanese occupation, attending a wreath-laying ceremony at the Sarawak World War II Liberation Monument in Pending. Her father, Hugh Humphrey, was a civilian internee at the Batu Lintang camp who secretly kept a diary during his internment. She visited the former camp site and laid a wreath, noting the trip coincided with the 25th anniversary of her father's death.
