500 attend smart farming and black pepper course in Tambunan
More than 500 people joined a smart farming and black pepper cultivation course in Tambunan, Sabah, organised by Sawit Kinabalu. The course, held for the first time at SMK Tambunan, introduced farmers and agro-entrepreneurs to technology such as smartphones and CCTV for crop monitoring. Deputy Chairman Datuk Victor P Paut said the approach, inspired by farming in Hokkaido, Japan, could help Tambunan become a modern agricultural hub.

Sabah to standardise Road Safety Audit for road projects
Sabah is moving to strengthen and standardise its Road Safety Audit process so hazards are identified before road projects are completed and opened. German man gets 12 months' jail in Kota Kinabalu for illegal entry and obstructing immigration officer
A 40-year-old German national, Kuecuekboga Suleyman, was sentenced to 12 months' imprisonment by the Sessions Court in Kota Kinabalu on two counts of entering Sabah illegally and obstructing an immigration officer. He changed his plea to guilty midway through his trial, receiving six months' jail for each charge, to run consecutively from the date of conviction.

Indonesian carpenter hurt as iron piece pierces foot in Tambunan
An Indonesian carpenter was injured in Tambunan, Sabah, on Monday morning when a piece of iron pierced his foot while he was doing carpentry work on a house. Firefighters from the Tambunan Fire and Rescue Station were called to Tambunan Hospital to cut the metal out, and he was handed to Health Ministry staff for further treatment.

Croatian climber rescued after 8 days stranded on Mount Kinabalu
A 46-year-old Croatian climber, Mauro Persic, was found alive after eight days alone and injured on Mount Kinabalu in Sabah. He was rescued in a multi-agency operation and is still in police custody while receiving treatment at a private hospital in Kota Kinabalu. Defendants in KSSA suit move to bar Ram Singh from acting for himself
In Kota Kinabalu, a group of defendants in a civil suit involving the Kinabalu Singh Sabha Association Sabah have applied to the High Court to stop plaintiff Datuk Ram Singh from representing himself as an advocate and solicitor. They also want his firm, Messrs Ram Singh & Co, removed, citing a conflict of interest because Ram is both a party and a material witness. The application was filed on Aug 28.

Sabah minister to table proposal for dedicated motorcycle racing circuit
Sabah Education, Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Datuk James Ratib said he will bring a proposal for a dedicated motorcycle racing circuit to the State Cabinet, following a request from Sabah MotoDay 9.0 organisers. Penampang Preppies Swimming Club retained the overall title at the 16th Penampang Preppies Swimming Championship held at the Penampang Sports Complex pool on September 4-5. Malanjum: Putrajaya must share Sabah's illegal immigrant burden

Phoong wants noise control zones in Kota Kinabalu
Senator Datuk Phoong Jin Zhe has asked the Sabah government to create designated Noise Control Zones in densely populated urban areas of Kota Kinabalu after complaints about a recent large motorcycle gathering. Kampung Numbak fire victims get RM300 each in education aid

Two men held with syabu at a house in Kampung Mata Kundasang, Ranau
Ranau police arrested two local men, aged 26 and 38, at an unnumbered house in Kampung Mata Kundasang at about 1am on Sept 12 and seized 5.12g of suspected syabu. The case is being probed under Section 39A(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, and a four-day remand has been sought for one suspect.

Armizan: Sabah-Federal cooperation vital to fix infrastructure in Papar
