GOF Battalion 21 in Keningau seizes RM36 million in goods this year
The General Operations Force Battalion 21 in Keningau has seized items worth over RM36 million from January to September this year, covering 60 cases and 82 suspects. Commanding Officer Supt Hairulnizam Rashid said the operations followed Bukit Aman instructions to intensify enforcement against smuggling and cross-border crime. He spoke after officiating the battalion's Commanding Officer's Cup Football Championship 2026 on Friday.

Ranau residents fear road works threaten water sources
Residents of several villages in Ranau, Sabah, are calling for an immediate inspection of suspected road construction and land-clearing at Bukit Hampuan, Mile 4, Jalan Mamut. They fear the activities could harm gravity-fed water sources and the Sungai Mansahaban catchment, risking muddy floods and erosion.

Sabah Agriculture Park showcases 1,000 native plant varieties at Tenom festival
About 1,000 varieties of plants, fruits and orchids are on display at the Sabah Agriculture Park in Lagut Seberang, Tenom. The 2026 Indigenous Flower and Fruit Festival, launched on Saturday, runs for 10 days and involves 550 students from 12 schools.

Bingkor welfare group urges Keningau council to act on stray dogs
A community welfare association in Bingkor has called on the Keningau District Council and other agencies to tackle stray dogs roaming Keningau town, including into restaurants and eateries. Its chairman Yazid Mohd Hasnan Tawik said the problem has persisted and poses hygiene and safety risks, and proposed identifying owners, regular operations and a better complaints channel.

Keningau quakes expose gaps in Sabah fault mapping, geologist says
A series of small earthquakes in Keningau has shown that the district's fault systems are far less mapped than those in Ranau, geologist Prof Emeritus Dr Felix Tongkul said. He said the tremors are small and no major quake is imminent, but called for more detailed studies and stronger seismic monitoring in Sabah's interior.
