Perlis Raja receives Deputy Army Chief at Istana Arau
The Raja of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Jamalullail, received Deputy Army Chief Lt Gen Datuk Mohamad Suria Mohamad Saad at Balai Mengadap Hijau, Istana Arau, yesterday. Istana Arau said the meeting reflects close ties between the Perlis royal institution and the Malaysian Army, strengthening security and defence cooperation given Perlis's position as a northern border state.

Perlis Immigration detains two men, foils migrant smuggling bid near Kuala Perlis
Perlis Immigration detained a 53-year-old local man and a 35-year-old Myanmar national in Ops Kutip around Kuala Perlis at about 3am. A sedan car, mobile phones and documents were seized. The case is being investigated under anti-trafficking and immigration laws.

Bersatu Arau division leadership quits party over Perlis council chairman appointment
The Bersatu Arau division leadership, including its deputy chief and wing chiefs, announced their resignations and immediate departure from the party on Thursday night. The move follows the central leadership's appointment of Padang Besar division chief Izizam Ibrahim as Perlis Bersatu Leadership Council chairman without consulting state and grassroots members. It comes after similar exits by the Kangar and Padang Besar divisions earlier this week.

In Kangar, 90 of 99 branch chiefs left the party, while in Padang Besar and Arau division leaders and branch chiefs also joined Wawasan. Newly appointed Perlis Bersatu chairman Izizam Ibrahim remains optimistic about defending the party.

Missing security guard found dead floating in a drain in Simpang Empat
A 40-year-old security guard reported missing since the day before was found dead floating in a drain near Batu 1 1/2, Jalan Tambun Tulang, Simpang Empat, Kangar. Police said initial investigations found no criminal element and classified the case as sudden death; the man had a history of schizophrenia.

Contract worker pleads guilty to snatching RM10,000 gold chain in Arau
A contract worker pleaded guilty at the Kangar Magistrate's Court to robbing and injuring an elderly woman while snatching a gold chain worth RM10,000 at a house in Bumbung Lima, Arau on 5 September. Wan Afandi Wan Salehudin, 26, was granted RM6,000 bail with one surety, and sentencing is set for 23 September.

Bersatu Kangar leaders, 90 branch chiefs quit party for Parti Wawasan Negara
The deputy chief of Bersatu's Kangar division, Faisol Rahman, along with division committee members and 90 of 99 branch chiefs, announced their immediate resignation from the party. They cited a loss of trust in the central leadership and said they will join Parti Wawasan Negara, led by Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin. This follows a similar mass resignation by the Padang Besar division leadership the previous day.
