RM183mil Lawas Hospital completed, handed over to Health Ministry
The new RM183 million Lawas Hospital, with 76 beds, was handed over to the Ministry of Health yesterday. Works Minister Alexander Nanta Linggi said the project was delayed by the Covid-19 pandemic and now carries a two-year defect liability period. He said residents of Lawas and surrounding areas should no longer need to travel to Brunei for more specialised treatment.

Lawas Hospital handover: staffing to be added as resources allow
The newly completed 76-bed Lawas Hospital was handed over on Sept 14, with Deputy Health Minister Hanifah Hajar Taib saying staffing will be strengthened as resources allow. Empty house at Sundar government quarters destroyed in fire
An unoccupied house at Block A of the Sundar government quarters in Lawas, Sarawak, was about 90 percent destroyed in a fire last night. The fire was reported around 8pm and the Lawas fire station arrived at 8.29pm. No victims were involved and the fire was brought under control by 9pm.

Lawas hospital project to be handed over Sept 14, says Awang Tengah

Wildlife Dept catches 18ft crocodile in Sungai Kampung Banting, Sipitang
The Wildlife Department caught an 18-foot male crocodile in Sungai Kampung Banting, Sipitang, at 5pm on Monday using a baited line. Villagers believe it is the same crocodile that nearly attacked a fisherman last month, and a second line was snapped by what may be an even larger crocodile. The village committee chairman has advised villagers and anglers to stay away from the river.

Kampung Petarikan market upgrade in Merapok 80 per cent done, says Awang Tengah
The Phase Two upgrade of the Kampung Petarikan market in Merapok, Lawas, is about 80 per cent complete and is targeted for completion by the end of September.
