  1. Public raises RM100,000 in four days for Penang busker's wife cancer treatment

    In Bukit Mertajam, Penang, well-wishers raised RM100,000 in four days to fund cancer treatment for the wife of visually impaired busker Robert Maidin, known as Uncle Robert. Bukit Mertajam MP Steven Sim's team organised a charity mini-concert at Jit Sin Independent High School that raised over RM46,000, with Sim topping up the rest to reach the goal. Robert's wife's breast cancer has spread to her lungs.

  2. Pay & Go eDonation platform launched in Kuching with Red Crescent Sarawak

    A new Pay & Go eDonation Platform was launched in Kuching on Sept 9, allowing the public to give to humanitarian and charitable causes digitally. The launch was held alongside the signing of an eDonation Collaboration Agreement between the Malaysian Red Crescent Society Sarawak Chapter and Pay & Go Sdn Bhd, witnessed by state minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah, who said listed NGOs must be credible, licensed and transparent.

    A fundraising dinner in Long Atip, Sarawak raised RM285,213 in funds and pledges for the Irau Paskah Long Atip 2027 Easter programme. Unifor pledged RM100,000, Deputy Premier Douglas Uggah Embas pledged RM70,000, and other politicians contributed, with the money to buy equipment for the BEM Long Atip church.

    The Sarawak Children's Cancer Society has rescheduled its Childhood Cancer Awareness Walk to Nov 7 after it was postponed because of the haze. Registration stays at RM50 per participant, with proceeds going to children with cancer and their families. The society also lit the Darul Hana Bridge in gold on Sept 12 under its Light It Up Gold 2026 campaign.

Acting Minister for Muslim Affairs Zaqy Mohamad urged Singapore's Muslim community to give after joining a collection at Masjid Al-Istighfar on 11 September. RLAF expects to raise more than $200,000 and says the response so far has been encouraging.

    The Sarawak state health department has launched a fundraising drive for the families of five people killed in a Flying Doctor Service helicopter crash in Long Lellang, Ulu Baram. The department named the victims, including four health workers, and said contributions can be sent to its Kelab Perubatan Sarawak bank account. The Sarawak state government has also announced RM100,000 donations to each family.
