Public raises RM100,000 in four days for Penang busker's wife cancer treatment
In Bukit Mertajam, Penang, well-wishers raised RM100,000 in four days to fund cancer treatment for the wife of visually impaired busker Robert Maidin, known as Uncle Robert. Bukit Mertajam MP Steven Sim's team organised a charity mini-concert at Jit Sin Independent High School that raised over RM46,000, with Sim topping up the rest to reach the goal. Robert's wife's breast cancer has spread to her lungs.

Pay & Go eDonation platform launched in Kuching with Red Crescent Sarawak
A new Pay & Go eDonation Platform was launched in Kuching on Sept 9, allowing the public to give to humanitarian and charitable causes digitally. The launch was held alongside the signing of an eDonation Collaboration Agreement between the Malaysian Red Crescent Society Sarawak Chapter and Pay & Go Sdn Bhd, witnessed by state minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah, who said listed NGOs must be credible, licensed and transparent.

Long Atip Easter 2027 fundraiser reaches RM285,213
A fundraising dinner in Long Atip, Sarawak raised RM285,213 in funds and pledges for the Irau Paskah Long Atip 2027 Easter programme. Unifor pledged RM100,000, Deputy Premier Douglas Uggah Embas pledged RM70,000, and other politicians contributed, with the money to buy equipment for the BEM Long Atip church.

Charity football match for children in need held in Singapore
A charity football match to raise funds for children in need was held on September 5 in Singapore. The event at CHIJ St Nicholas Girls' School was attended by Members of Parliament and former national footballers. The match ended in a 3-3 draw.

SCCS Childhood Cancer Walk moved to Nov 7 after haze postponement
The Sarawak Children's Cancer Society has rescheduled its Childhood Cancer Awareness Walk to Nov 7 after it was postponed because of the haze. Registration stays at RM50 per participant, with proceeds going to children with cancer and their families. The society also lit the Darul Hana Bridge in gold on Sept 12 under its Light It Up Gold 2026 campaign.

Zaqy: Islamic groups should pool strengths for wider community benefit
At D'Marquee, Downtown East on 12 September, Minister-in-charge of Muslim Affairs Zaqy Mohamad said Islamic organisations such as MUIS, Mendaki, SKML and Sinda must work across communities for the common good. He spoke after the SKML 85th anniversary celebration, attended by Prime Minister Lawrence Wong. The event also launched the $250,000 SKML Ascend Education Fund.

RLAF collects funds at 70 Singapore mosques for Nepal-Tibet flood victims
The Rahmatan Lil Alamin Foundation (RLAF) is running a donation drive at 70 mosques in Singapore until 14 September to help victims of floods along the Nepal-Tibet border that struck on 26 August. Acting Minister for Muslim Affairs Zaqy Mohamad urged Singapore's Muslim community to give after joining a collection at Masjid Al-Istighfar on 11 September. RLAF expects to raise more than $200,000 and says the response so far has been encouraging.

Bukit Batok's Masjid Ar-Raudhah seeks remaining $2.8m for upgrade
Masjid Ar-Raudhah in Bukit Batok still needs about $2.8 million to cover the rest of its Mosque Upgrading Project, which began on 13 July. A mosque-wide donation drive will be held across Singapore on 11 September with 80 tin cans and 66 volunteers, alongside $50 wakaf lots and charity coupon sales.

Sarawak Health Dept Launches Fund for Families of Five Killed in FDS Helicopter Crash
The Sarawak state health department has launched a fundraising drive for the families of five people killed in a Flying Doctor Service helicopter crash in Long Lellang, Ulu Baram. The department named the victims, including four health workers, and said contributions can be sent to its Kelab Perubatan Sarawak bank account. The Sarawak state government has also announced RM100,000 donations to each family.
