Actress Shahriza Mahmud, 60, has opened a handicraft and asam pedas stall at Rimba Ampang (Food Hub), Bukit Antarabangsa, Kuala Lumpur since 29 August. She borrowed money from her father to cover the RM1,500 monthly rent and deposit, and admits sales in the first two weeks have been slow.

Skechers Malaysia targets 11 new store locations by year-end
Skechers plans to open about 11 new locations in Malaysia by the end of this year, with Malaysia now its largest market in Southeast Asia. Openings include a 20,000 sq ft store at Bandar Seri Coalfields, Sungai Buloh in September and a store at Merdeka 118 on 1 November.

Residents' coalition blasts DBKL over walkway dining permits
A coalition of Kuala Lumpur residents' associations has criticised DBKL's decision to allow restaurant operators to place tables and chairs on public walkways with a RM30 monthly permit. Save Kuala Lumpur chairman Datuk M. Ali says the move endangers pedestrians and contradicts the Kuala Lumpur Local Plan 2040, and the group plans to write to Minister Hannah Yeoh and Mayor Fadlun Mak Ujud demanding an explanation.

Yobe Malaysia to open 32 Crafted outlets by end-2027 after three months of trading
Yobe Malaysia, a homegrown frozen yoghurt brand launched in June 2026, plans to open seven more Yobe Crafted outlets by the end of 2026 and reach 32 outlets nationwide by the end of 2027. The company has already rolled out five Crafted outlets and 17 Mini App-to-Cup vending units, and in August named Malaysian M-pop group ALPHA as its first brand ambassador.
