Your kitchen
Set up your kitchen
NearbyPost takes 0% commission — you keep your full dine-in/takeaway margin. Orders come straight to your WhatsApp, and buyers pay you directly. Buyers collect it themselves or book their own rider on Grab Express or Lalamove — charged per trip, so they save more too. No middleman, no cut of your sales.
And with your full margin, you have room for promotions that pull orders in — free delivery over a set amount, or a free item above a certain spend — for more organic sales.
What each step does
- Your kitchen Your name, what you cook, where you are, and the WhatsApp orders come to.
- When you are open Your opening hours, so buyers only order when you are cooking.
- Your menu Your dishes, prices and photos — this is what buyers pick from.
- How buyers get it Self pick-up, dine-in, or you deliver — you choose how buyers get it.
- Promotions Optional deals — a discount, a free item, or free delivery — to pull orders in.
- Marketing material A ready-made flyer and QR code to bring your own regulars over.
- Ad Advisor How to get more customers — fix your menu, share it free, then paid ads only if you want them, with the costs worked out.
How NearbyPost helps you
- A proper page buyers find in local search — no website to build.
- Orders arrive in the WhatsApp you already use, with the items and a pick-up number filled in.
- You keep 100% of your price — NearbyPost never touches the payment.
- Neighbours can share your page, so word of mouth does the marketing.
Take a look around and fill it in - no account needed yet. What you type stays on this device. Sign in when you are ready to save and go online.
Where you are, exactly
Pinpoint your location accurately so buyers can find you.
Drag the pin onto your door. Address search needs you to be signed in; dragging does not.
Orders arrive on the number you sign in with. Fill the rest in first — you will be asked to sign in when you save.
Your app icon Optional
Customers can add your kitchen to their phone's home screen. Your icon then opens straight to your menu, like an app. Choose a clear picture, such as your logo or your best dish, and crop it to a square.
Drag the picture to move it inside the square.
Tip: keep the main thing in the middle. Small writing is hard to read on an icon.
Add as many stretches to a day as you need — a breakfast run and a dinner run are two, not one long one. Switch a day off and it stays shut every week.
Days off
The week above repeats all year. Use the calendar for the days it is wrong — a holiday, a wedding, a fortnight in the kampung. Public holidays for your state are marked.
You are closed Public holiday Date may still move
Three ways to do this. Pick the one that suits how you already work — you can change it whenever you like.
Nothing to fill in — buyers message you and you agree everything in the chat, but they cannot see a price first.
Paste your menu as plain text — buyers read it before they message, but we cannot total an order from words.
Photos of the food
Up to 12. Drag them to reorder — the first is the one buyers see.
Build it once. Save time on every order.
Set it up once. Let the menu do the explaining for you.
A proper menu takes some time to build, but once it is done, buyers can browse and decide without asking you everything one by one on WhatsApp.
- Buyers can see exactly what you sell. Every dish can have its own name, price, size, add-ons and photos. This is much easier to understand than scrolling through messages or asking for a menu.
- Photos help buyers decide. When each dish is shown together with the right image, buyers know what they are ordering. This is especially useful when you have many dishes.
- You answer fewer questions. Instead of repeatedly replying “How much?”, “What size?”, “Got photo?”, “What comes with it?” — buyers can look through the menu themselves.
- Let them decide first, then WhatsApp you. Buyers choose their food on NearbyPost. When they are ready, the order is sent to you through WhatsApp with the order details already prepared.
- Confirm the order with one click. The WhatsApp order includes a link. Open it and confirm the sale. NearbyPost then records the order for you.
- Your sales record builds automatically. Anytime you want, you can check your sales history, order totals and breakdowns instead of adding everything up again manually.
- SST becomes easier too. If you charge SST, NearbyPost can separate the relevant amounts so you can see your sales and SST breakdown clearly.
One hour now can save you many hours later.
You do not need to finish everything at once. Start with your best-selling dishes, publish the menu, and add the rest whenever you have time.
Quick setup tips
- Start with your best-selling dishes first.
- Add clear photos whenever possible.
- Enter the full price the buyer pays.
- Add sizes and extras so buyers do not need to ask.
- You can update the menu anytime.
Type the full price a buyer pays — tax and all. Tick this only if you are SST-registered: registration starts at RM1,500,000 a year, so most kitchens are under it and charge nothing.
iWhat each of these means
- Dine in
- They eat at your place. Show your address and the hours you are open.
- Pick-up
- They come and collect. The simplest way to start - no riders, no fees, no distance to work out. NearbyPost takes no commission on pick-up. If another food platform charged 15%, RM15.00 of every RM100 order would go to the platform. Here, it stays with you.
- I deliver
- You or your rider take it to them. You set the fee and how far you will go.
- Case by case
- You would rather agree it in the chat each time. Nothing is priced in advance.
You can start with pick-up alone. A menu and your opening hours, and you are listed — no riders, no fees, no distance limits to work out. Turn delivery on later, once the orders are coming and you know where from.
NearbyPost takes no commission. See what a 30% food-platform commission could cost you.
Example only, at a 30% commission rate.
| The order | They take | You keep |
|---|---|---|
| RM50.00 | −RM15.00 | RM35.00 |
| RM100.00 | −RM30.00 | RM70.00 |
| RM200.00 | −RM60.00 | RM140.00 |
Percentage commissions become more noticeable as the order gets larger. On a RM200 order, 30% is RM60.
And the work does not grow with the order. Arranging one delivery takes roughly the same effort whether the food order is RM30 or RM300. A percentage commission keeps increasing with the order value.
NearbyPost takes RM0 commission from the food order. If you provide delivery, you decide what delivery fee to charge. The buyer usually still pays less than they would through a food platform.
Very nearby deliveries may cost very little extra. If an existing staff member can handle a nearby delivery during quiet hours, you may be able to charge a delivery fee without hiring a dedicated rider.
NearbyPost does not provide or book riders. If you offer delivery, you arrange it yourself using your own staff or any delivery service you choose. Commission and delivery examples are illustrative; actual rates vary.
What you charge for it
Choose how you price delivery.
What a rider usually costs — for reference
| Distance by road | GrabExpress bike | Lalamove bike |
|---|---|---|
| 1 km | RM5.00 | RM5.00 |
| 3 km | RM5.00 | RM5.00 |
| 5 km | RM5.00 | RM5.00 |
| 8 km | RM8.00 | RM7.10 – RM8.00 |
| 12 km | RM12.00 | RM9.90 – RM12.00 |
For reference only. What a rider actually charges moves with the weather, peak and off-peak hours, road conditions and how many riders are free — the real price is the one in their app. Lalamove does not publish a per-km rate, so theirs is shown as a range.
Packaging, cutlery and tax
iPromotions sell. The question is who controls them.
Customers like the feeling of getting a good deal. A strong promotion can make them try a new shop, add another item, order more often, or spend a little more than they planned. That is exactly why promotions are powerful.
The problem starts when the promotion is designed around the platform instead of the merchant. Some merchants end up giving away so much through discounts, commissions and campaign charges that the order barely makes money — and they accept it as advertising, because stopping the campaign can also mean losing visibility.
And you paid for that promotion twice.
The campaign is theirs — their dates, their discount, their rules. You fund the discount out of your own margin. Commission is then taken on the bill. Then you pay again to stay visible, because the shop that leaves the campaign drops down the list. Three cuts out of one order, and you chose none of them.
| The discount you funded | −RM20 |
| Commission, at 30% | −RM30 |
| Paying to stay visible | −RM5 |
| What reaches you | RM45 |
Only the commission is a published rate. The discount and the visibility spend are your own money, and the mix differs by merchant and campaign — but this is the shape of it, and it is why the bill never feels like 30%.
NearbyPost gives the promotion back to you.
You decide what looks irresistible to the customer, and where you still make your money. One item can be an extreme-value deal paired with higher-margin food. Free delivery can start above a basket size that pays for it. A free item can cost little to make and still feel valuable.
Here, all three are yours. You design the offer, nobody takes a share of it, and being found by people nearby is not something you bid for.
| The offer | What the customer feels | What pays for it |
|---|---|---|
| RM2 coffee | Worth going out of their way for. | The meal and the add-ons beside it. |
| Free fries above RM40 | Generous, and easy to qualify for. | The larger order it takes to get there. |
| Free delivery above RM80 | A reward for spending a bit more. | A bigger basket absorbs the same ride. |
The same RM8 ride, as a share of the order
This is why a basket condition does the work. The ride costs you the same either way — what changes is how much of the order it eats.
A promotion does not have to make money by itself. It has to make the whole order make sense.
Give customers the feeling of a great deal — without giving away the business. That is what this tool is for.
One condition and one reward. That is enough for every offer we could think of, and for the ones you will think of.
Your distance limit always applies. A free delivery is still a delivery — an offer waives the fee, never the radius.

Ask your customers for a testimonial
Send this link to past customers by WhatsApp. Every testimonial shows on your page - the more you have, the more new customers trust you.
Why testimonials are worth it
- Trust: new customers check what others say before they contact you. Every testimonial builds your profile, so strangers trust you sooner.
- A reminder that you exist: each message puts you back in a past customer’s mind - next time they or a friend need you, they know where to find you.
- You look organised: a page with real testimonials shows you run a proper, systematic business.
- It is free and it adds up: every testimonial stays on your page and keeps working for you.
