A robotics team from SMK Chung Hua Miri won the RoboSports Double Tennis category at the National Robotics Competition (NRC) 2026 held at INTI International University in Seremban on 6-10 September. The win qualifies them to represent Malaysia at the World Robot Olympiad in Puerto Rico.

Four children who fell into Kulim drain buried in single grave
Four children who fell into a drain at Taman Desa Kayangan, Sungai Karangan, Kulim last night have completed post-mortems at the Forensic Department of Hospital Sultanah Bahiyah, Alor Setar. Their bodies will be taken back to Kulim for burial in a single grave at the Tanah Perkuburan Islam Masjid Sungai Karangan today. The incident happened when they tried to retrieve a ball that had fallen into the drain.

BIM saved RM157m and 10 years on Pan Borneo Sarawak, Works Ministry says
The Works Ministry said Building Information Modelling resolved over 3,000 drawing errors on the Pan Borneo Sarawak Highway in 2016, saving RM157 million and avoiding a potential 10-year delay. Kulim: 4 children die after falling into open drain while playing football
Four children aged 8 to 12 died after falling into an open drain at Taman Desa Kayangan in Kulim, Kedah. They were playing football when the ball went into the drain and they fell in while trying to retrieve it. Two died at the scene and two died on the way to Kulim Hospital; the bodies were sent to Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital in Alor Setar for post-mortem.

Muhammad Adam Iskandar Azharunaim, 20, has begun his undergraduate studies at Universiti Sains Malaysia after years of caring for his cancer-stricken mother and three siblings, one of them disabled. His father died of Covid-19 five years ago and his mother died on 24 August. He had earlier turned down a place at UIAM and chose Form Six to stay with his family.

Former minister Jamil Khir charged over RM860.3m Tabung Haji assets
In Kuala Lumpur, former Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Jamil Khir Baharom was charged in the Sessions Court with three counts of dishonestly transferring over RM860.3 million in Tabung Haji assets.
