MMA urges government to tackle shortage of 11,000 specialists in Budget 2027
The Malaysian Medical Association (MMA) is urging the government to focus on stopping the loss of healthcare workers in Budget 2027, including through a stronger, merit-based specialist promotion pathway. This comes amid a 57 percent increase in specialist resignations from 2019 to 2023 and a shortage of nearly 11,000 specialists in the country.
