60,000 Malaysians expected to spend RM36m in southern Thailand during Merdeka break
About 60,000 Malaysian tourists are expected to spend an estimated RM36 million in southern Thailand during the five-day Merdeka Day and school holiday period from August 29 to September 2. The influx is benefiting hotels, restaurants and retailers in popular destinations like Hat Yai, with hotels about 95 per cent booked.
