Malaysia on stable Sunda Shelf, low risk from Indonesian volcanoes, experts say
Malaysian volcanology experts say Malaysia faces little direct risk from seven active Indonesian volcanoes due to its location on the tectonically stable Sunda Shelf, outside the Pacific Ring of Fire. However, they warn that volcanic ash carried by winds could affect air quality and disrupt aviation in Malaysia.
