El Nino to strengthen from November, temperatures may hit 40°C, says climatologist

Climatologist Professor Emeritus Dr Fredolin Tangang warns that the current El Nino is expected to intensify from November and could become one of the strongest on record. Temperatures in Malaysia could reach 40 degrees Celsius between March and April next year, increasing the risk of drought, forest fires, and haze, particularly in Sabah and northern Sarawak. The phenomenon may also cause increased rainfall and flash floods in the Klang Valley.
