Frances Tiafoe came back from two sets and a break down to defeat fellow American Alex Michelsen in a five-set thriller at the US Open in New York. The 28-year-old won 5-7 3-6 7-5 6-3 7-6 (10-6) to reach his third semi-final at Flushing Meadows, where he will face Carlos Alcaraz or Ben Shelton.
