Fatal helicopter crash near Long Lellang prompts calls to suspend Flying Doctor Service
A helicopter chartered for the Flying Doctor Service crashed on Sept 8 at the end of the Long Lellang STOLport in Sarawak, killing four healthcare workers and the pilot. Medical groups Hartal Doktor Kontrak and the Malaysian Medical Association are demanding a safety audit and a temporary halt to the service, while the Health Ministry says operations will continue. Investigators from the Air Accident Investigation Bureau have secured the crash site.
