UK government rejects AI kill switch law
The British government has rejected a proposal to create a kill switch law that would shut down artificial intelligence models during emergencies. The Cabinet Office said the UK cannot simply switch off AI, arguing that blocking access in the UK would not stop it being developed or misused elsewhere. The idea was raised in a House of Lords debate on 1 September.
