Thailand digital minister defends 1.6bn baht AI passport scheme
Thailand's Digital Economy and Society Minister Chaichanok Chidchob has defended the TH-AI Passport scheme, a 1.6 billion baht project giving five million citizens free access to AI models, after opposition MPs alleged procurement irregularities. In an interview with The Straits Times, the 36-year-old minister said internal investigations found the project was carried out lawfully. The scheme launched on Aug 31 and has drawn 1.5 million registrations so far.
