MACC suspends orange prison attire for remand hearings, says all treated equally

MACC chief commissioner Datuk Seri Azam Baki said the commission has immediately suspended the practice of dressing suspects in orange prison attire when bringing them to court for remand applications, after taking advice from Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. He said the rule applies to everyone regardless of status, including politicians, and that suspects only need to wear prison attire while in detention, not when brought to court. The use of handcuffs will depend on the situation, with exemptions for the elderly, disabled and children.
