BARMM holds first parliamentary election in southern Philippines
About 2.4 million voters in the southern Philippines are expected to cast ballots in the first parliamentary election of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao. The vote is the culmination of a decade-long peace process that began with a 2014 agreement between Manila and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front. Voters will elect an 80-member Parliament, which will then choose the region's chief minister.
