Only 30% of children of single unwed parents hit full CDA matching grant

Singapore's Ministry of Social and Family Development said in a Sept 10 parliamentary reply that as of Sept 2, about 30 per cent of children of single unwed parents had reached the maximum Child Development Account co-matching grant limit, compared with about 70 per cent of children from married households. The figures cover children born between Sept 2016 and Dec 2020, and suggest single unwed parents face greater difficulty making voluntary deposits to get full government co-funding.
