MoU value at MAHA hits RM9.3 billion, exceeding RM8 billion target
Memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed at the Malaysia Agriculture, Horticulture and Agrotourism Exhibition (MAHA) at MAEPS, Serdang reached RM9.3 billion, exceeding the initial RM8 billion target. Agriculture Minister Mohamad Sabu said visitor numbers reached 2.77 million by the seventh day, with sales value at RM16.3 million.

National swimmer Muhammad Dhuha Zulfikry won the men's 800m freestyle gold on the second day of SUKIPT 2026 in Kuala Lumpur. His time of 8:21.31s broke the previous championship record. The 18-year-old was competing for Universiti Malaya.

NAFAS, Chinese firms sign RM1.5b MoU for integrated fertiliser industry
The National Farmers Organisation (NAFAS) signed a five-year MoU with China's Guizhou Phosphate Chemical Group and Jiangsu Chemical Design Institute at MAHA 2026 in Serdang. The RM1.5 billion collaboration aims to develop an integrated phosphate fertiliser industry, including a raw-material processing facility and long-term supply agreements. The signing was witnessed by Agriculture and Food Security Minister Mohamad Sabu.

MAPEX 2026 property fair opens in KL, targets RM2 billion in sales
The Malaysia Property Exhibition (MAPEX) 2026 opened today at the Mid Valley Exhibition Centre in Kuala Lumpur, featuring 22 developers offering about 5,000 property units across the Klang Valley, Melaka, Pahang and Penang. Umar Fareed wins SUKIPT 2026 air pistol gold, beating UPNM rival
Umar Fareed Faroukh of Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) won the men's 10m air pistol event at SUKIPT 2026, held at the shooting range of Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia (UPNM) in Kuala Lumpur. He scored 233.9 points, ahead of silver medalist Muhammad Zainal 'Azim Ahmad Mahmud from UPNM and bronze medalist Muhammad Afiq Azrief Khalil from UiTM. The victory is significant for Umar, who is no longer in the national program this year.

The victim had to front payments for orders and even borrowed from loan sharks, but was unable to withdraw promised profits. A police report has been filed.

Police arrest man over TikTok post on temple demolition gathering
Police in Kangar arrested a 55-year-old man in Petaling Jaya over a TikTok post promoting a gathering at the site of a demolished temple in Bukit Lagi. The post was suspected of inciting tensions following the temple's demolition on Aug 20. The suspect was remanded for two days to assist investigations under the Sedition Act and the Communications and Multimedia Act.

Customs seize 722kg of drugs worth RM43 million in four Selangor raids
The Royal Malaysian Customs Department (JKDM) seized over 722 kilograms of drugs worth nearly RM43 million in four separate operations in Selangor. The largest seizure involved 505.6 kilograms of ketamine worth RM25.28 million from a warehouse in Section 27, Shah Alam. The drugs were believed to be imported from Spain and the Netherlands, with Malaysia used as a transit point by the syndicate.

IT officer in Bangsar South loses RM20,000 in SPayLater scam
A 28-year-old IT officer in Bangsar South, Kuala Lumpur, lost RM20,000 after falling for an SPayLater cash-out offer seen on TikTok. Brickfields district police confirmed the incident on September 1 and the case is being investigated under Section 420 of the Penal Code.
