Para Sukma: Darwisy Irfan breaks three national swimming records in Shah Alam
At the Para Sukma Selangor 2026 in Shah Alam, 16-year-old swimmer Ahmad Darwisy Irfan broke three national records, including in the men's 50m freestyle S13 and 100m breaststroke SB13 events. He also improved his own record in the 100m backstroke B13 event.

Mother of former senator Ras Adiba Radzi dies in Petaling Jaya
Siti Sariah Abu, the 81-year-old mother of former senator and Bernama chairman Ras Adiba Radzi, died at her home in Section 16, Petaling Jaya. She passed away peacefully while sitting at home at around 5.20pm. The funeral is expected to take place at the Bukit Kiara Muslim Cemetery tomorrow morning.

Kwasa Land seeks approval to turn 60 acres of commercial land in Kwasa Damansara into homes
Kwasa Land, an EPF subsidiary, plans to convert about 60 acres, or 13%, of commercial land in Kwasa Damansara into residential plots, pending local authority approval. The move aims to rebalance the township's master plan after market studies showed the commercial component was too high. The township targets over 60,000 residents in five years and 100,000 by 2050.

High Court to decide Sept 14 on teen charged with murdering schoolmate in Bandar Utama
The Shah Alam High Court has set Sept 14 to deliver its decision in the case of a 15-year-old boy charged with murdering his 16-year-old schoolmate in Bandar Utama last year. The defence has urged the court to acquit the boy but order his detention in a hospital for treatment of a mental illness, while the prosecution argues he was sane and planned the killing.

UPSI kayaker Syahida Asyiqin wins SUKIPT 2026 Sportswoman, sets national record
Syahida Asyiqin Rusli of Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) was named Sportswoman of the SUKIPT 2026 games held at Universiti Malaya. She won gold in the women's TK1 200m event and set a new national record of 56.30 seconds in the qualifying round.

Skechers Malaysia targets 11 new stores, opens large Sungai Buloh outlet in September
Malaysia is now Skechers' largest market in Southeast Asia, with the company targeting 11 new locations by year-end. A large store in Bandar Seri Coalfields, Sungai Buloh is scheduled to open in September, while an opening at Merdeka 118 is planned for November 1. The company currently operates about 120 stores nationwide.

Sarawak's Bryan Gustin wins Para SUKMA powerlifting gold, brother Brownson takes bronze
At Para SUKMA Selangor 2026 in Selangor, Sarawak's Bryan Junency Gustin won the men's up-to-88kg para powerlifting gold with a best lift of 165kg. His younger brother, Brownson John Gustin, took bronze with a lift of 110kg. Bryan, who is the brother of national champion Bonnie Bunyau Gustin, now hopes to compete at the SEA Games.

Brothers get court leave to challenge DBKL nod for 39-storey towers near Old Klang Road home
Two brothers have been granted High Court leave to challenge Kuala Lumpur City Hall's approval for two 39-storey residential towers planned less than 11 metres from their home along Jalan Klang Lama. The court also granted an interim stay on the development until a hearing for a permanent stay on October 8. The brothers are seeking to overturn the development order and building plan, citing concerns over traffic, noise, and lack of an environmental impact assessment.

Selangor may shift Para SUKMA events to evening due to haze
The Selangor government is prepared to adjust the schedules of certain Para SUKMA 2026 events, potentially extending them into the evening, due to haze and poor air quality. Several outdoor events, including archery, have been temporarily postponed, but no events have been cancelled. The state has collected 25 gold medals so far and is confident of reaching its 60-gold target.

Pedestrian killed in hit-and-run on LDP near Puchong; police seek Proton Saga driver
A man in his 40s was killed in a hit-and-run accident on the Damansara-Puchong Expressway (LDP) towards Puchong early yesterday morning. Police say a red Proton Saga struck the pedestrian, who was standing in the left lane, and fled the scene. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, and police are investigating under the Road Transport Act.

Police investigate decomposed body found in Bukit Jelutong
Police in Shah Alam are investigating after a decomposed body was found in an overgrown area near Jalan Persiaran Balairong U8, Bukit Jelutong. The deceased is believed to have died more than a week ago, and the case has been classified as a sudden death.

Fashion designer acquitted of drug trafficking after three years in remand
The Shah Alam High Court has acquitted and discharged fashion designer G Chelvan of a charge of trafficking over 3kg of methamphetamine. Judicial Commissioner Norhisham Ismail ruled that the prosecution failed to establish a prima facie case. Chelvan had been in detention at Sungai Buloh Prison since his arrest in March 2023.

Syazwani wins third consecutive Para SUKMA gold
Sarawak's para bowler Nur Syazwani Marais won the gold medal in the women's TPB4 singles event at Para SUKMA Selangor 2026, held at Sunway Mega Lanes in Bandar Sunway. This is her third consecutive title after wins in 2022 and 2024. Other gold medals went to athletes from Sabah, Kedah and Selangor.
