Gobind asks AG to explain DNAA of four Muhyiddin charges
Gobind Singh Deo has asked Attorney-General Dusuki Mokhtar to explain the decision to discontinue four charges against Muhyiddin Yassin linked to Bukhary Equity. The Kuala Lumpur High Court acquitted Muhyiddin after the prosecution applied for a DNAA without giving specific reasons. Muhyiddin still faces three other abuse of power charges over the Jana Wibawa programme.

Motorcyclist dies after skidding on Sultan Iskandar Highway
A man in his 30s died after his Yamaha Y15ZR motorcycle lost control and skidded on the Sultan Iskandar Highway from Jalan Duta towards Jalan Tun Razak this afternoon. He was pronounced dead at the scene by a Kuala Lumpur Hospital medical officer, and the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

DBKL introduces permit stickers for outdoor tables and chairs
Kuala Lumpur City Hall is introducing permit stickers for tables and chairs placed outside restaurant premises, at RM30 a month per set. Approval is now decentralised through 11 branch offices and area managers, provided pedestrian walkways keep at least 2.5 to three feet of clearance.

Four children who drowned in Kulim buried in a single grave
Four children who drowned after falling into a drain at Taman Desa Kayangan, Sungai Karangan, Kulim, were buried in one grave at the Masjid Jamek Nurul Ehsan Islamic cemetery today. Two died at the scene and two on the way to Kulim Hospital.

Mother of stabbed student urges AGC to appeal teen's acquittal
The mother of Yap Shing Xuen, a student killed in a stabbing at a national secondary school in Bandar Utama, is urging the Attorney General's Chambers to appeal the High Court's acquittal of a 15-year-old boy. Wong Lee Ping wants the appeal filed to the Court of Appeal within 14 days. The Shah Alam High Court freed the teen on a defence of unsound mind and ordered him treated at Hospital Bahagia Ulu Kinta, Perak.

High Court declines to cite MACC officer for contempt in Muhyiddin trial
The High Court in Kuala Lumpur decided not to begin contempt proceedings against MACC investigation officer Mazery Mohd Zaini after accepting his explanation for communicating with a colleague who lodged a police report. The report had named Muhyiddin Yassin's lawyer Amer Hamzah Arshad over an allegedly classified document, but it was later given No Further Action status.

Tour bus catches fire at KM137 of North-South Expressway near Yong Peng, all 15 escape
A tour bus carrying 14 passengers and a driver caught fire at KM137 of the northbound North-South Expressway near Yong Peng, Batu Pahat. All 15 people escaped unhurt after the driver and tour leader evacuated them before firefighters arrived. The bus was about 80 per cent destroyed and the blaze was put out at 2.48pm.

NST columnist Datuk Abdul Rahim Mydin dies at 75
Datuk Abdul Rahim Mydin, a veteran New Straits Times columnist, died at 75 in Kuala Lumpur after a long battle with lung fibrosis. He was undergoing treatment at the Institute of Respiratory Medicine when he died around 4pm. He was formerly general manager of Petronas' Group Communications Department and was conferred the Datuk title in 2024.

Selangor monitors API, PSRA exams may be postponed if reading exceeds 200
Selangor is monitoring the haze situation before deciding on the PSRA religious school examinations due to start next Monday. Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari said the exams could be postponed if the Air Pollutant Index exceeds 200, and schools would be closed at that level.

Kelana Jaya line back to normal after Ampang Park signal fault
A signalling fault at Ampang Park Station at 9.14am stopped a Kelana Jaya Line train with its doors misaligned with the platform screen doors. Rapid KL says operations have returned to normal and trains are running to schedule, and it has apologised to passengers.

Lorry driver threatens suicide after JPJ Selangor summons on PLUS highway
A lorry driver became angry and threatened to end his life after being issued a summons during a JPJ Selangor commercial vehicle operation on the North-South Expressway near Sungai Buloh today. Two express bus drivers also gave excuses of not knowing the lane rules, while another admitted driving in the right lane to rush a cargo delivery.

LTdL organisers prepare alternative routes for haze risk
Organisers of Le Tour de Langkawi (LTdL) 2026 are preparing for possible haze, rain and floods during the race from 27 September to 4 October. LTdL chief operating officer Emir Abdul Jalal said alternative routes are ready and any decision will follow UCI rules, including stopping or cancelling a stage if API readings are too high. PKBM president Datuk Amarjit Singh Gill said rider health must come first.

KL police propose KK Mart stores as GTSP safety points
Kuala Lumpur police are proposing to turn about 700 KK Mart outlets in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor into Go-To-Safety-Points where the public can seek emergency help. Police chief Datuk Fadil Marsus said the partnership would include joint patrols and possibly access to the chain's central CCTV feed. The proposal was announced at the opening of a KK Mart branch at the Kuala Lumpur contingent police headquarters.

Perhilitan tracks elephant hit by car near Kemaman
Wildlife officers in Terengganu are closely monitoring an elephant injured when a car struck it near Kemaman. The elephant was crossing the Jerangau-Sabur road when the collision occurred, injuring three people including a married couple. The animal fled into a nearby palm oil estate.

Four remanded five days over RM1.8m animal feed false claims
Four people, including an enforcement agency personnel, were remanded for five days by the Kuala Lumpur Magistrate's Court over allegedly false documents in animal feed supply claims worth RM1.8 million. The suspects, aged 40 to 60, were detained after giving statements at the Kuala Lumpur MACC office, and the case is being investigated under Section 18 of the MACC Act 2009.

GOF seizes RM1.9mil in smuggled cigarettes in Klang raid
The General Operations Force seized over RM1.9 million worth of smuggled cigarettes in a raid on a premises in Bandar Bukit Raja, Klang, on Tuesday. A 52-year-old man suspected of being the courier was arrested, and 4,920 cartons of untaxed cigarettes plus a Nissan Almera were seized. The case is being investigated under the Customs Act 1967 and the suspect and goods were taken to the Klang Utara district police headquarters.

JPJ detains driver using employer's Vellfire as illegal taxi at KLIA
A 53-year-old man was detained by Selangor JPJ at Terminal 2 of KLIA for offering unlicensed taxi services to four Myanmar and Bangladesh passengers. The Toyota Vellfire used belonged to his employer and was registered as a private vehicle. The case is being investigated under the Land Public Transport Act 2010.
