Mekdi National Takraw League 2026 opens in October across three cities
The Mekdi National Takraw League 2026 will open competition in Seremban, Sungai Petani and Gong Badak from October, with the final in Kuala Lumpur in November. Gajah Emas Industries managing director Kevin Lim welcomed the under-16 league as a platform for grassroots sepak takraw development. The league, organised by McDonald's Malaysia and Harian Metro, is backed by the Youth and Sports Ministry and the Malaysian Sepaktakraw Federation.

Ge-Len cap KL Cup run with final spot
American pair Augustus Ge and Len Yang reached the men's doubles final of the Leapmotor KL Cup at The Hood in Kuala Lumpur, beating Yuta Funemizu and Tama Shimabukuro 9-11, 11-4, 11-5. They will face top seeds Gabriel Tardio and Noe Khlif for the title. Yang also lost in the mixed doubles semi-finals with Sahra Dennehy.

UPM overall champions of SUKIPT 2026, Sultan of Selangor congratulates
Universiti Putra Malaysia won the overall title at SUKIPT 2026 with 35 gold, 20 silver and 15 bronze medals, ahead of UiTM and hosts Universiti Malaya. The Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, as UPM Chancellor, congratulated the contingent. The 7th edition ended at Dewan Tuanku Canselor, Universiti Malaya on Sept 6, with 46 meet records and two national records broken.

BAM open to Zii Jia training with existing players, says Tengku Zafrul
BAM president Tengku Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz said the association's doors are open to Lee Zii Jia to train with existing players. He said the decision rests with Zii Jia, while BAM is focusing on young players and preparations for the 2027 SEA Games and LA28 Olympics. BAM secretary-general Kenny Goh confirmed Zii Jia had trained at BAM twice a week before.

Sabah ITF Taekwon-Do brings home 31 medals from Hwa Rang Warrior Asia Cup 2026
Sabah's 56-member ITF Taekwon-Do contingent, represented by three clubs, returned with 31 medals from the Hwa Rang Warrior Asia Cup 2026 held at Stadium Titiwangsa in Kuala Lumpur from Sept 4 to 6. They finished 16th among 59 teams with four golds, 10 silvers and 17 bronzes. Contingent chief Osmaiza Osman said the initial target of 10 golds was not met but praised the athletes, coaches and officials for their commitment.

Singapore race walker past 60 wins gold at international meet
Singapore's R. Subramaniam, who took up race walking at 15 and returned to it at 40, won gold in the 20km walk at an international athletics meet on Aug 29, with his team taking bronze in the 10km a week earlier. He represented Singapore at the 2005 international 24-hour race walking event in Genting, Malaysia, and has been listed ten times in the Singapore Book of Records.

National hockey coach Brendon Carolan believes his Speedy Tigers squad can reach the final of the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games and secure a ticket to the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics. The competition was held at Sunsuria Forum in Setia Alam, Shah Alam, Selangor from Aug 20 to 22, with 59 schools taking part. The team of eight Form One and Form Two students also competed in the 4 x 30s Speed Relay.
