A 30-year-old Chinese national pleaded guilty on Wednesday to breaking into her ex-boyfriend's mansion on Swettenham Road and attempting to grab a police officer's gun to harm herself. She had also allegedly broken into the same home in September 2024. Sentencing is set for September 15.

Hong Kong principal sacked over SAFRA Jurong swearing seeks S$154,700
A Hong Kong school principal fired after swearing at security guards at SAFRA Jurong in May is seeking about HK$960,000 (S$154,700) in an unfair dismissal claim. His case was briefly heard at Hong Kong's Labour Tribunal on Sept 8, with trial set for Dec 1.

85-year-old Bukit Batok resident waited over two hours for help after shower fall
An 85-year-old woman fell in her shower at Harmony Village @ Bukit Batok on Sep 2 and pressed the emergency call bell, but no one came for over two hours. She dragged herself to the main door, where a neighbour heard her calls and an ambulance was finally summoned. She underwent hip surgery and is recovering at Ng Teng Fong General Hospital, while the operator says it is reviewing the incident.

PUB tells commuters to avoid Jalan Boon Lay and Jurong Port Road junction over flash-flood risk
PUB has advised the public to avoid two locations in western Singapore on the morning of Sept 10 because of the risk of flash floods. Jalan Boon Lay from International Road to Enterprise Road and the junction of Pesawat Drive and Jurong Port Road were flagged for an hour from about 8.26am and 8.29am respectively, with heavy rain expected over many areas from 8am to 9.30am.

Chinese national jailed 8 months for grabbing S$50,000 from friend at Orchard Hotel
A 28-year-old Chinese national, Zhao Ziqi, was sentenced to eight months' jail for stealing S$50,000 from a friend at Orchard Hotel in Singapore. British man in Singapore gets 5-day detention, 100 hours community service for assaulting PHV driver

Man gets 2 years' jail, caning for selling Kpods and illicit drugs
A 24-year-old man, Basil Wang Zhuang Zhen, was sentenced on Sept 4 to two years' jail and two strokes of the cane for trafficking Kpods and other drugs. He was caught after ICA officers found a vape in his car at Woodlands Checkpoint, leading to a search of his home where authorities found thousands of tablets and other illicit items. Singapore's F-35 fleet to cost US$4.06b; eight jets to be based at Tengah, rest in US
A US Department of War report has disclosed that Singapore's acquisition of 20 F-35 stealth fighters and related equipment cost US$4.06 billion. Eight of the jets, the F-35As, will be based at Tengah Air Base in Singapore, while the twelve F-35Bs will be permanently stationed at Ebbing Air National Guard Base in Arkansas, US. The first jets are expected to be delivered to the US at the end of 2026, with Singapore housing them locally only in 2029.

Malaysian jailed 15 weeks for smuggling 1,050 etomidate-laced pods through Woodlands Checkpoint
A 42-year-old Malaysian man, Ji Saow Hua, was sentenced to 15 weeks' jail on Sept 3 for importing 1,050 etomidate-laced e-cigarette pods worth $73,500. He was caught at the Woodlands Checkpoint on July 4, 2025, after an auxiliary police officer found the pods in his motorcycle's rear carriage box. Ji had previously been fined for a similar offence in 2024.

Man, 59, arrested for alleged loanshark harassment at Choa Chu Kang flat
A 59-year-old man was arrested on Sep. 1 for allegedly harassing a resident by scattering shoes and leaving a bicycle lock at a flat along Choa Chu Kang Avenue 5. Police identified him through camera images. He will be charged in court on Sep. 3 under the Moneylenders Act.
