Safee Sali, Koo Kien Keat to feature in humanoid robot fight league at Pavilion Damansara Heights
Former national footballer Safee Sali and former national doubles shuttler Koo Kien Keat are among the sports personalities expected to take part in New Dawn MY, a human-piloted humanoid robots competition, at Pavilion Arena, Pavilion Damansara Heights in Kuala Lumpur on Oct 3. Organiser Shadow Combat League said the event will feature seven bouts, including four preliminary fights and three championship bouts, with titles contested in the ICON, GLADIATOR and NETRUNNER categories.

Higher HC points set to make LTdL26 King of the Mountain fight fierce
The battle for the King of the Mountain jersey at Le Tour de Langkawi 2026 is expected to stay fierce until the final stages after Hors Classe points at Cameron Highlands and Genting Highlands were raised to 25 from 15. LTdL chief operating officer Emir Abdul Jalal said the three summit finishes at Gunung Jerai, Cameron Highlands and Genting Highlands will be key, with climbing zones in stages six and eight still offering points. The race runs from 27 September to 4 October over eight stages covering 1,285.5 kilometres.

Irvine wins women's and mixed doubles at Leapmotor KL Cup
American Jessie Irvine won both the women's and mixed doubles titles at the Leapmotor Kuala Lumpur Cup at The Hood in Kuala Lumpur. She and Alix Truong beat the Australian pair Sahra Dennehy and Danni-elle Townsend in the women's final, then Irvine partnered Bolivia's Gabriel Tardio to take the mixed doubles against Townsend and Joey Wild.

American teen Tama Shimabukuro wins Leapmotor KL Cup badminton title
American 15-year-old Tama Shimabukuro beat France's Noe Khlif 11-8, 11-5 to win the men's singles at the Leapmotor Kuala Lumpur Cup, held at The Hood in Kuala Lumpur. Shimabukuro had earlier beaten Malaysian No. 1 Jimmy Liong 12-10, 11-4 in the round of 16.

Taufiq edges Fahmi in Merdeka Run at Balai Berita
Youth and Sports Minister Dr Taufiq Johari beat Communications Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil in the Oxyenergy Media Prima Merdeka Run at Balai Berita in Kuala Lumpur. The Mekdi National Takraw League 2026 will open competition in Seremban, Sungai Petani and Gong Badak from October, with the final in Kuala Lumpur in November. Gajah Emas Industries managing director Kevin Lim welcomed the under-16 league as a platform for grassroots sepak takraw development. UPM overall champions of SUKIPT 2026, Sultan of Selangor congratulates
Universiti Putra Malaysia won the overall title at SUKIPT 2026 with 35 gold, 20 silver and 15 bronze medals, ahead of UiTM and hosts Universiti Malaya. Sabah ITF Taekwon-Do brings home 31 medals from Hwa Rang Warrior Asia Cup 2026
Sabah's 56-member ITF Taekwon-Do contingent, represented by three clubs, returned with 31 medals from the Hwa Rang Warrior Asia Cup 2026 held at Stadium Titiwangsa in Kuala Lumpur from Sept 4 to 6. They finished 16th among 59 teams with four golds, 10 silvers and 17 bronzes. Contingent chief Osmaiza Osman said the initial target of 10 golds was not met but praised the athletes, coaches and officials for their commitment.

National hockey coach Brendon Carolan believes his Speedy Tigers squad can reach the final of the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games and secure a ticket to the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics.
