Syed Saddiq invites Ong Ye Kung to his Oct 10 wedding in KL
Malaysian MP Syed Saddiq Abdul Rahman met Singapore Health Minister Ong Ye Kung this week and invited him to his wedding to singer-actress Bella Astillah on Oct 10 at Level 118 of Menara Merdeka Maybank in Kuala Lumpur. Ong accepted the invitation, calling it a good reason to visit Malaysia again.

KL Shakespeare Players return with The Merchant of Venice at DPAC
The KL Shakespeare Players are staging The Merchant of Venice at the Damansara Performing Arts Centre from September 25 to 27, after a successful April run. The eight-member cast is led by Lim Soon Heng as Shylock, and tickets are priced at RM77.30.

The Whale staged at KLPAC from Sept 17 to 20
The Actor Studio Seni Teater Rakyat is staging Samuel D. Hunter's play The Whale at the Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre from September 17 to 20. Directed by Christopher Ling, the production follows Charlie, a reclusive English teacher eating himself to death as he tries to reconnect with his estranged daughter. Tickets start at RM78.

Naimi Daini joins Awie Rock King concert at Stadium Merdeka
Female drummer Naimi Daini will make a special appearance at the Awie Rock King - Last Man Standing 2026 concert at Stadium Merdeka, Kuala Lumpur tomorrow. It is her second appearance on a big stage after the Nusafest concert with Search in 2023. She will accompany performances by Datuk Awie, Merrah and Puteri with songs including RNR Lu Punya Suka and Di Bayang Awan.

Awie promises best performance at Stadium Merdeka solo concert
Datuk Awie has promised his best performance at his solo concert, Awie Rock King - Last Man Standing 2026, at Stadium Merdeka this Saturday. Malaysian composer and singer Yasin Sulaiman said he lost hope and thought it better to be hanged after being sentenced to 30 years in prison. After about four and a half years of treatment including at Hospital Bahagia Ulu Kinta, he was released on 2 September on conditions to continue medication and avoid cannabis.

Awie said the show features five segments with about 35 songs from five different bands he has played with, plus a line-up of top Malaysian musicians and artists. Rehearsals began about a month ago at MyStudio Sungai Buloh to ensure a tight performance.
