Man arrested for injuring girlfriend with parang and pallet wood in Kabong oil palm estate
A 50-year-old man was arrested in Saratok after allegedly injuring his girlfriend with pallet wood and brandishing a parang at an oil palm estate in Kampung Nyabor, Kabong, last Thursday. The 35-year-old victim suffered injuries to her finger, hand and body after rejecting the suspect's marriage proposal. The suspect tested positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine, and the case is being investigated under Sections 324 and 506 of the Penal Code.

78-year-old man missing in Selangau durian orchard found safe
A 78-year-old man reported missing after going to a durian orchard near Sungai Duat Bridge in Selangau, Sarawak was found safe today. Kaya Umbie left home around 8am yesterday and did not return, prompting his family to lodge a police report. Fire and Rescue personnel from Selangau who launched a search operation found he had been located by longhouse residents and taken to Selangau Clinic for a health check.

580kg crocodile caught in Batang Igan after disturbing fishing nets
A 580kg crocodile measuring 4.32 metres was captured in the Sebedil area of Batang Igan, Sarawak, early Thursday morning. The operation was launched after residents complained the reptile had been disturbing their fishing nets. A licensed hunter and the Sarawak Forestry Corporation took part in the joint operation.

Rundi: Drugs and online gambling threaten rural families
Sarawak's Minister of Food Industry, Commodity and Regional Development, Dato Sri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom, warned that drug abuse and online gambling are seriously affecting families in rural areas. He said pills are being sold to longhouse residents and online gambling is trapping people in debt. He spoke at a cheque presentation ceremony for the Kemena state constituency at the Bintulu Agriculture Department office on Thursday.

Foreign oil palm worker arrested in Mukah with drugs hidden in cigarette box
A 35-year-old foreign oil palm plantation worker was arrested in a raid along Jalan Mukah-Selangau in Mukah after police found drugs hidden in a cigarette box. Police seized 10.83 grams of methamphetamine valued at RM540, and the suspect tested positive for drugs. He is remanded for two days and investigated under the Dangerous Drugs Act and Immigration Act.

Sibu man jailed one month for stealing RM152 in toiletries from pharmacy
A 54-year-old man was sentenced to one month's jail by the Sibu Magistrates' Court after pleading guilty to stealing toiletries and reading glasses worth RM152.25 from PMG Pharmacy in Jalan Central. The theft occurred on Sept 1, and the man was arrested after police reviewed CCTV footage.
