Johor became the first state to implement the Bureaucratic Red Tape Reform (RKB) Convention, with 39 projects from 17 state departments and agencies presented in Johor Baru. The Malaysia Productivity Corporation said the projects could yield RM81.9 million in annual savings through simplified procedures and technology including AI.

Fitness influencer charged with RM31,900 criminal breach of trust, RM4,000 bail
Fitness influencer Muhammad Azri Abdul Rahim, 31, pleaded not guilty in the Johor Bahru Sessions Court to a charge of criminal breach of trust over RM31,900 belonging to a former flight attendant. The alleged offence took place at Jalan Nusaria, Taman Nusantara, Gelang Patah, Iskandar Puteri between 25 January and 7 March 2025. The court granted RM4,000 bail with one surety and set 7 October for mention.

Johor Bahru court orders developer to pay RM10.57mil to 84 Princess Cove buyers
The Johor Bahru High Court has ordered R&F Development Sdn Bhd to pay about RM10.57 million in compensation to 84 owners of Princess Cove condominium units over late delivery of their homes. Judge Wong Mee Ling ruled that amendments to the sale and purchase agreements made by the developer without buyers' consent were invalid, and dismissed claims by 39 other plaintiffs who signed their agreements after the building plans were amended.

Johor to convert six Medan Niaga Kampung Melayu Majidee shop lots into Malaysia's first food-court NCD clinic
Six shop lots at Medan Niaga Kampung Melayu Majidee in Johor Baru will be refurbished into Malaysia's first non-communicable disease clinic located inside a food court, at a cost of RM1 million. The Johor Baru City Council project will move NCD follow-up services from the Majidee public clinic and is expected to serve about 200 patients daily when it opens early next year. Separately, measures including scheduled appointments and extended hours have been introduced at the Mengkibol clinic in Kluang to ease congestion.

HDB playground design guidelines take effect, Woodlands upgrades under way
Singapore's Housing Board released playground design guidelines in December 2025 setting mandatory features for playgrounds in new Build-To-Order estates and those being redesigned or upgraded, including HDB public parks. Property agent flags repeated unauthorised entry into Woodlands flat under renovation
A property agent has raised concerns after people believed to be neighbours allegedly entered a Woodlands flat under renovation on two separate occasions, taking photos and walking through the kitchen and rooms. Jalan Jim Quee in Johor Bahru to close to private vehicles from next year
Jalan Jim Quee in Johor Bahru will be fully closed to private vehicles from next year following the operation of the RTS Link. A contractor was fined RM20,000 by the Johor Baru Sessions Court after pleading guilty to using forged documents to secure RM5 million worth of Felda road and drainage projects. Chen Yongseng, 48, was diagnosed with terminal nose cancer in 2018 and given 30 days to live. After 37 rounds of chemotherapy and radiotherapy, his cancer went into remission, and he now runs Xiao Wen Ban Mian noodle stall at Block 504 Yishun Street 51 with his wife, Awen.

Vegetation fire near Gali Batu Depot in Woodlands extinguished, no injuries
A vegetation fire measuring about 200m by 200m broke out near the Gali Batu Depot in Woodlands on Sept 7. The Singapore Civil Defence Force was alerted at about 6.50pm and extinguished the blaze using three water jets, with no injuries reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Ex-property consultant jailed 10 years, fined RM228mil for graft
The Court of Appeal in Johor Bahru sentenced former real estate consultant Amir Shariffuddin Abd Raub to 10 years in jail and a fine of nearly RM228 million. The court overturned his earlier acquittal on 33 corruption and four money laundering charges. The bench found that his claim the money was consultancy fees was unsupported by evidence.
